Giving Tuesday: Help Survivors Find Their Voice

The Gatehouse is a safe place where survivors of childhood sexual abuse are heard, believed, and supported. This Giving Tuesday, your generosity helps keep our doors open, our groups running, and our community connected.

Every gift, no matter the size, helps someone take a brave step toward healing.

Why Your Support Matters Today

For many survivors, walking through the doors of The Gatehouse is the first time they share their story in a space that feels safe, compassionate, and free of judgment. We offer a nominal program fee on a sliding scale, ensuring that finances are never a barrier to accessing support.

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to come together as a community and make sure that support is available for anyone who needs it. Your donation helps us:

  • Maintain a warm, welcoming heritage home where survivors can gather

  • Offer peer support groups led by trained peer facilitators

  • Provide programs for men, women, and LGBTQIA+ survivors

  • Support partners, families, and loved ones who are walking alongside survivors

When you give, you are helping someone feel less alone.

How Your Gift Makes a Difference

  • $25 helps provide materials for one peer support group participant

  • $50 supports the upkeep of our heritage building so it remains a safe, comfortable gathering space

  • $100 contributes to training and supporting volunteer facilitators

  • $250 helps support a survivor through a full peer support group series

  • Custom amount lets you give in a way that is meaningful for you

However you choose to give, your support directly strengthens programs that help survivors reclaim their voices and rebuild their lives.

A Safe Space, Built by and for Survivors

The Gatehouse, formerly the gatekeeper’s residence for the old Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital, is now home to our non-profit organization supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse. What once served as an entry point to the hospital grounds has become a place of safety, connection, and renewed hope for survivors on their healing journey.

Inside this historic building, survivors gather in a warm, supportive environment grounded in compassion and peer-led understanding. We offer a nominal program fee on a sliding scale, ensuring that finances are never a barrier to accessing support.

The Gatehouse is a community where survivors are heard, believed, and empowered to reclaim their voices.
